Position Overview  
The Communications and Development Coordinator provides comprehensive administrative support to the Center’s Development and Communications Team; primary responsibilities include writing and proofreading, data management, crafting public-facing communications, and coordinating donor engagement strategies. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to learn and advance in a career in nonprofit fundraising, communications, or similar. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong writing and proofreading skills, keen attention to detail, and skill in crafting captivating print and digital communications. Additionally, the Coordinator must be passionate about supporting CLLC’s culture and values, ensuring that programs, practices, and communications are aligned with the organization’s mission. 

Responsibilities & Duties 

Writing, Editing & Content Creation 

  • Collaborate on creating impactful, targeted communications that align with the organization’s brand guidelines and communications strategy.  
  • Manage daily social media activities, implementing strategies to increase followers. Draft posts independently or in partnership with other staff, maintain a content calendar for future posts for events and occasions, and produce engaging content, including stories, reels, and graphics.  
  • Write public-facing content including blog posts, engagement emails and letters.  
  • Support program staff with creating and editing PowerPoint presentations and maintain an organized PowerPoint library.  
  • Help develop multi-channel campaigns including writing and design of electronic and social media solicitations.  
  • Assist the Development and Communications team with all aspects of print direct response appeals, including drafting content.  
  • Manage and leverage key fundraising events such as Give Big Gallatin Valley.  

Data Management, Donor Engagement & Research  

  • Manage key development systems and processes, including data entry, generating weekly gift reports, preparing donor research dossiers, proactively identifying key prospects in target markets, and tracking metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).  
  • Ensure prompt donor acknowledgments through electronic and written communications. 
  • Conduct donor research using relevant tools to generate high-quality individual and foundation prospects, build accurate donor profiles, and identify fundraising trends and opportunities. 
  • Measure and report on the effectiveness of donor communications and solicitations, using metrics and data analytics to make informed decisions. 
  • Assist in the identification and segmentation of key audiences; generate targeted mailing and suppression lists. 
  • Leverage online research tools to help build and update media target lists, fact-check blog posts, emails, press releases, etc. 
  • Track and analyze website, social media, and email analytics for regular reporting and performance insights. 
  • Measure and report on the effectiveness of donor communications and solicitations, using metrics and data analytics to make informed decisions. 
  • In collaboration with Visual Communications Coordinator, organize and source photos, videos, and other visual assets; respond to time-sensitive requests from other staff members for photos.

Administrative Support 

  • Serve as a Communications and Development Team resource for copywriting and copy review. 
  • Proactively communicate with staff members to track progress on key initiatives, facilitate timely task completion, and ensure alignment across the team. Anticipate scheduling needs and address potential conflicts, enabling seamless coordination and on-time delivery of projects.  
  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics for: 
  • Select in-person fundraising events, outreach activities and meetings 
  • Virtual meetings with external supporters 
  • Internal team meetings. 
  • Manage the ongoing Communications and Development Calendar, ensuring team members are informed and tasks are completed on schedule. 
  • Provide excellent customer service to supporters and other constituents. 
  • Organize and maintain digital files. 
  • Compile annual reports of staff presentations, papers, publications and other key metrics.

Qualifications 

  • 2+ years’ experience in an administrative, fundraising, or communications role; nonprofit experience preferred.  
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with keen attention to spelling, grammar, tone, punctuation, formatting, and consistency. 
  • Ability to balance a diverse workload while maintaining strong time management and organizational skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Significant experience as a multi-channel social media user. Proven track record of developing and posting social media content and increasing engagement. Experience creating reels desired.  
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite including PowerPoint. 
  • Basic knowledge of digital analytics, including Google Analytics, and social media channels’ native insights is a plus. 
  • Basic photo editing and graphic design skills preferred (Canva. InDesign, etc.)  
  • Experience with email marketing platforms, such as Constant Contact, is a plus. 
  • Experience using CRM software (e.g., Little Green Light, Salesforce, Donor Perfect, or similar) preferred. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred.
