2025 Summer Internship – Northeast Region

If so, you may be a good fit at American Forest Management!  AFM’s Northeast Region has 2 openings for a Summer Internship in Milford and Farmington Maine, reporting to the District Manager. As an intern at AFM, you will be paired with a forester throughout your summer to gain a wide range of forestry and business experience as well as independent work. Activities will mostly include inventory work using a variety of cruising techniques, timber sale layout and stream buffer delineation, harvesting inspections, GIS/GPS work, tract inspections, and other duties assigned by AFM foresters.  If you like the outdoors, are an analytical thinker, and enjoy work of an independent nature, we’d like to talk with you!

Position Requirements:

• Pursuing a Degree in Forestry or Natural Resources
• Desire to learn more about a consulting forestry career
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; working knowledge of GIS & GPS applications is a plus.
• Must have personal skills necessary to communicate with AFM team members, managers, and contractors.
• Ability to drive, ride, or walk through rough terrain in wet and dry environments.
• Comfortable working long periods of time outdoors in a remote field environment including adverse weather conditions.
• Valid driver’s license.

At AFM, our people are our top priority, and that includes our interns. The position is flexible with start and end dates to accommodate class schedules. A company vehicle will be provided for business use only. This is a paid position; the pay is to be between $16 - $18 an hour. AFM will not be providing additional assistance with housing.
