Grant Administrator (Hybrid)  

Part-time, Temporary (1-3 years)  

The Peconic Land Trust celebrated 40 years of protecting Long Island’s working farms, natural lands, and heritage. We are excited about the opportunity to administer an aquaculture cost-share program to New York State aquaculture producers and growers to bolster marine agriculture, promote a healthy natural environment, and provide New Yorkers with a nutritious source of locally grown seafood. 

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Grant Administrator to oversee the implementation and management of this grant.   Reporting to Sr. Environmental Programs Manager, the Grant Administrator will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the grant application process, ensuring compliance with funding guidelines, and facilitating the distribution of grants to eligible recipients. There is a potential opportunity available for extended employment when the grant period has been completed or funding expended.  

Responsibilities, include, but are not limited to: 

  • Grant Program Management: Manage all aspects of the grant program, including the development of program guidelines, application materials, and evaluation criteria. 
  • Application Review: Review grant applications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with funding requirements. Coordinate the review process with relevant stakeholders and advisory committees. 
  • Grant Disbursement and Monitoring: Facilitate the disbursement of grant funds to eligible recipients in accordance with program guidelines and funding allocations. Conduct site visits and audits as needed to ensure proper use of funds.  

Position Qualifications Requirements: 

  • Work 10-20 hours per week for 1-3 years or until grant funding is spent.  There is flexibility with the exact schedule to be set with management.  
  • The hourly rate is $30-$33, experience dependent. 
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, agriculture, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in grant administration or program management, preferably in the agriculture or aquaculture sector. 
  • Strong understanding of grant administration principles, procedures, and best practices. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to diverse audiences. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. 
  • Must be 18 years of age with a valid drivers’ license and reliable transportation for site visits on the east end of Long Island as needed and to work in the Southampton main office at least 1-2 times per month. Will be working from home most of the time.  
  • Knowledge of aquaculture industry trends, challenges, and opportunities in New York State is a plus.
