Essential Job Functions include the following: 

  • Manage and lead organizational compliance with AmeriCorps policies and procedures;
    • Subject Matter Expert resource to GBI staff and collaborators on all things AmeriCorps;
    • Lead AmeriCorps compliance training for GBI staff and host site supervisors, including developing or improving training materials and delivering sessions as needed;
    • Assist with program and organizational reporting as it relates to AmeriCorps grants; 
    • Maintain GBI AmeriCorps Compliance Manual with the latest process improvements and any needed updates on an annual basis; 
    • Monitor AmeriCorps compliance requirements and update new member paperwork, resource documents, and organizational procedures as necessary;
  • Distribute, collect, file, and track completion for all AmeriCorps Member paperwork in collaboration with GBI member coordinators;
    • Manage completion of AmeriCorps Criminal History Check requirements and ensure compliance with start dates;
    • Track AmeriCorps Members through their service term in order to enroll, initiate evaluations, suspend terms as necessary, and exit members in compliance with standards and procedures;
  • Facilitate and manage AmeriCorps compliance audits, including conducting member file and compliance audits (pre-emptive internally in preparation for external formal audits);
  • Uphold and foster GBI’s leadership values of “sustainable teams, adaptive management, collaborative ecosystems, and clarity of purpose;”
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment; and
  • Maintain professional and courteous presence and demeanor.

LOCATION

Based at GBI offices in Reno, NV The “Biggest Little City in the World” the greater Reno-Sparks metropolitan area has a population of over 435,000. The city is a high desert landscape ~4,500 feet above sea level, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains along the Truckee River, as it flows from Lake Tahoe to Pyramid Lake. Weather is mild, but with distinct four seasons. Reno offers easy access to world-class outdoor recreation including driving distance to Yosemite and Death Valley National Parks, the Pacific Ocean, and California redwood forests. Closer to home, Nevada offers more natural hot springs than any other state in the country, over 150 named mountain ranges, and 30 peaks over 11,000 feet. Recreation and entertainment includes eight major ski resorts in proximity to the Reno-Tahoe airport; fishing and boating on Lake Tahoe, the Truckee River, and Pyramid Lake; cultural festivals throughout the summer along the banks of the Truckee River; a thriving food scene and more.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Starting annual salary is $52k - $60k DOE (Note: in Nevada there is no state income tax). In addition to a competitive base salary, this full-time, onsite position includes company-paid comprehensive medical, dental (with option to upgrade in coverage), and vision insurance, as well as $25,000 Life/AD&D policy. Voluntary short-term and long-term disability policies are available, and voluntary Life/AD&D policies for family members.  Mental health support resources are employer provided, as is 401(k) retirement savings with up to 4% GBI match, competitive PTO accrual, paid holidays (12 per year), and family leave. Total compensation package is $60k - $70k per year, DOE.  This exciting role contributes to GBI’s significant positive impacts within the fields of environmental research, education, and conservation.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, stand, walk, bend, and have specific vision abilities to include close and distance vision, and ability to adjust focus working with computer business equipment and other job/industry specific equipment. The overall nature of the position is sedentary, requiring little physical effort and occasional light exertion. There is occasional exposure to environmental conditions such as heat, cold, and temperature changes.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated experience handling multiple priorities;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Drive;
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work with limited supervision;
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills;
  • High level of organization and attention to detail in demonstrated leadership experience.

Experience

  • Experience working with non-profit organizations and/or federal or state agencies preferred.
  • 2+ years experience working with AmeriCorps programming;
  • Previous experience with or knowledge of the AmeriCorps program, preferably administering a State Program or Education Award Program;

General

  • Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic office environment, and to consistently enact high performance standards and a strong work and team ethic in support of the mission of GBI; and
  • Meet requirements of federal agency security background checks (e.g., FBI criminal and National Sex Offender Public Registry, Department of Interior Security Screening).
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  
  • Ability to problem solve both autonomously and collaboratively
  • Strong management and delegation skills and speaking/presentation abilities.
