The Department of Biology in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in August 2025.

We seek a colleague with expertise in Terrestrial Ecology to teach an existing Ecology course for departmental majors while also contributing to our introductory biology courses as assigned by the department chair. Area of research expertise is open within the confines of the broader field of Terrestrial Ecology, though preference will be for a candidate capable of offering an additional upper-level course in the area of their expertise to serve the broader population of Biology and Marine-Science-Biology majors.

The successful candidate will have potential for excellence in teaching, a critical area for our teaching-centered, primarily undergraduate institution.  Applicants should be eager to create engaging, inclusive learning environments for our diverse student body that emphasize shared learning objectives across a range of subject areas within the biological sciences.  Students majoring in the department choose from among a BS or BA in Biology or a major in Marine Science-Biology, along with minors populated by students from across the university.  The required teaching load is 12 contact hours per semester with full-credit for time spent in laboratory sections.  Tenure-track professors in the Department typically offer courses at the upper-level as well as introductory or general education courses each year.
