The Department of Biology at Loyola University Maryland (LUM) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of ecology and evolutionary biology to begin in July 2025. We are looking for a candidate committed to excellence in undergraduate education at a dynamic liberal arts university who can continue a productive research program. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to LUM’s stated goal of equity and inclusion of the academic community.

We seek outstanding candidates from all areas of ecology and evolutionary biology, and candidates with expertise in urban ecology, conservation, and the Chesapeake Bay are of particular interest. The successful candidate will teach three courses per term (lab courses are counted toward these courses) in their area of expertise and in our introductory biology sequence. The successful candidate should possess an awareness of and interest in high impact practices in line with the mission of Jesuit higher education. Faculty development opportunities are also available. Required Qualifications: Have a Ph.D. in ecology, evolutionary biology, or a closely related field; Demonstrate the potential for teaching excellence across all levels of the undergraduate curriculum; Demonstrate the potential for significant scholarly activity; Be responsive to the educational needs of our diversifying student population.
