Three seasonal Biological Science Technicians are needed to assist with habitat and wildlife monitoring at the Sheldon-Hart Mountain National Wildlife Refuge Complex from March through September of 2025. Your duty station will be either Plush, OR (Hart Mountain NAR) or Denio, NV (Sheldon NWR). Shared housing is provided on-refuge and a work vehicle will be provided for work-related travel. Duties will include, but are not limited to, sage-grouse lek counts, pygmy rabbit surveys, bat monitoring, wildlife camera deployment and photo sorting, bighorn sheep habitat assessments, meadow habitat assessments, juniper habitat assessments, spring assessments, post-fire recovery monitoring, native seed collection and application, photo monitoring, and data entry. Work hours are variable but average 40 hours per week, with some predawn work required. Strenuous hiking (up to ~8 miles per day) in inclement conditions (rain, snow, mud, steep slopes, 0-95 degrees F) can be expected. Technicians must be capable of hiking with 50L packs containing field/monitoring equipment in rugged terrain. Technicians must be able to work well with others and independently in an isolated environment, following established protocols with excellent attention to detail. Previous plant identification experience and ATV/UTV experience is preferred.

This is a 6-month seasonal term, ideally starting March 10, 2025.
