Multiple seasonal Biological Science Technician positions located at the Garrison Project Office on Lake Sakakawea in Riverdale, North Dakota. Join an interdisciplinary team to aid in monitoring and managing grasslands throughout the Garrison Project and North Dakota! The US Army Corps of Engineers aims to promote and maintain healthy rangelands, clean water and air and maintain premier wildlife and habitat.
As a biological science technician working for the US Army Corps of Engineers you will be working on and around Lake Sakakawea in North Dakota. These positions will work under the Noxious Weed and Habitat Program, Agriculture and Grazing Program, and the Boundary & Encroachment Program. Applicants must be in good physical condition, willing to spend long days working outdoors, must be able to hike 5+ miles a day in adverse conditions over uneven terrain, drive 4x4 pickup trucks, haul 16 to 20-foot utility trailers, utilize ATVs and UTVs for noxious weed control, participate in native prairie restorations, participate in habitat projects, assist with rangeland production surveys, assist with fencing and boundary surveys, and other activities as assigned. Knowledge of basic scientific sampling and data collection methods are preferred but not required. All job duties and responsibilities below will be trained for on the job. Existing knowledge of job duties and responsibilities for this position are preferred but not required.

GENERAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Habitat & Noxious Weed programs at the Garrison Project
- May assist with tree planting plans and windbreak designs
- ATV/UTV operation and trailering
- Full size truck operation to and from work sites
- Maintenance of equipment
- Coordinate with project/program leads regarding task schedules
- Correctly enter data into database and keep information current
- Perform GIS mapping data collection
- Native plant identification
- Native plant data collection
- Noxious weed identification
- Noxious weed data collection
- Pass North Dakota Pesticide Applicators License Exam
- Pass ATV/UTV Training
- ATV and UTV utilization for noxious weed control
- Trailer hauling for equipment transport
- Assist with wildlife habitat restoration projects
- Assist with rangeland assessment and monitoring surveys
- Assist with fencing and boundary inspections
- Assist ANS Program with water sampling
- Pass pre-employment physical and background check
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree or progress towards a degree in Natural Resources, Wildlife Management, Wildlife Sciences, or related biological science degree is preferred.
- Knowledge of trailers, trucks and ATVs preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of data collection procedures preferred, but not required.
- Noxious Weed control experience preferred, but not required.
- Training will be provided for all duties and responsibilities of this position.
- Must be 18 years or older to apply.
Housing is not provided. The USACE will provide resources for finding housing in the area upon selection for the position.
