The mission of High Line Canal Conservancy (the Conservancy) is to preserve, protect and enhance the 71-mile High Line Canal, in partnership with the public. The Conservancy is a tax-exempt nonprofit driven by a passionate coalition to provide leadership and harness the region’s commitment to enhancing and permanently protecting the Canal. In 2014, with the support of Denver Water and 11 local jurisdictions, the Conservancy led a public outreach campaign engaging thousands of residents to develop a long-term plan for the Canal, spearheaded a fundraising campaign to support the vision, and now holds a permanent conservation easement on 45 miles of the Canal.
The Conservancy seeks candidates who demonstrate passion for the Conservancy’s mission and the Canal the organization seeks to enhance and protect! The ideal candidate has extensive experience and success leading high-performance teams that deliver excellent results, on time and on-budget. This politically savvy individual must exhibit experience collaborating with a wide variety of partners including elected officials, government agencies, funders, donors, partners and stakeholders. Experience convening groups of people, addressing common interests in a collegial, transparent and highly participatory manner is essential. Candidates must respect, understand and work to accommodate plans and programs in ways that address the range of life experiences and needs of Canal users.
This 501(c)(3) organization has a board of 17, a dedicated full-time staff of approximately 14, with an annual operating budget of about $3.5 million. This position is on-site and in-person in Centennial, Colorado.
The salary range for this position annually is between $150,000 and $190,000 and will be commensurate with experience. The Conservancy has a supportive culture, encourages professional development and is an organization that cares about employee wellbeing. The comprehensive benefits package includes Medical, Dental, Vision, Long-Term Disability, Life and AD&D and a Simple IRA with a 3% match. Generous Paid Vacation, Personal Time, Medical or Family Leave and Paid Holidays. The total benefit package is on average 20% of the salary.
