Position Summary:

The Wolf Conservation Center (WCC) is seeking a dynamic and creative Communications & Social Media Manager to support our efforts in promoting our mission to protect and preserve wolves and their habitat. The ideal candidate will have a passion for wildlife conservation and experience in managing social media, communications, marketing, and press relations. This role is crucial in expanding our reach, enhancing our brand awareness, and engaging our community through various communication channels. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Social Media Management (50%)
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to increase WCC's online presence and engagement.
    • Create, curate, and manage all published content (images, action alerts, video, written) across various platforms (Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitch, etc.).
    • Oversee social media income stream opportunities and track success.
    • Monitor social media channels for trends, feedback, and opportunities to engage with our audience.
    • Analyze social media metrics and adjust strategies to meet performance goals.
  • Branding & Design (25%)
    • Ensure consistent and effective branding across all virtual and paper communications.
    • Partner with CEO to develop brand guidelines to be used across the organization.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to create marketing materials that reflect WCC’s brand and mission.
  • Press and Partner Relations (25%)
    • Manage all external marketing and communications consultants, contractors, and vendors, ensuring effective coordination of meetings, follow up, and other relevant tasks.
    • Act as the primary contact for all media inquiries and handle all external communications.
    • Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, blog posts, and other communication materials.
    • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers, and influencers in the conservation and wildlife sectors.
    • Manage the communications calendar.
    • Coordinate media events, interviews, and press releases.
    • With the Development Department, coordinate co-branding opportunities and events with corporate partners.  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in communications, social media management, or public relations, preferably in the non-profit or conservation sector.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful social media and branding strategies.
  • Experience managing large (1M +) social audience.
  • Experience with e-commerce/ graphic design platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CapCut, Animoto, Shopify, etc.
  • Experience with video production and editing.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and web analytics tools.
  • Creative thinking and adaptability.
  • Commitment to innovation and an appreciation of style and design.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for wildlife conservation and the mission of the Wolf Conservation Center. 

Compensation & Benefits

The salary for this role is $60-65K per year. Salary ranges at WCC are standardized based on role level and function.
