The Communications Coordinator will lead and support a variety of communication-focused tasks. These tasks may be supportive of S&S communications, and communications for our clients. This is an inherently adaptable position, and tasks will vary by project and timeline. Examples of responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Communications Strategy
      • Support the development of strategic communication plans, including the identification of target audiences, communications goals and objectives, and strategic timelines for rollout.
      • Apply a strategic mindset to help support clients and staff in identification and creation of effective and informed communications materials.
      • Review technical and scientific materials to identify stories, key messages, and successes for communications development.
    • Communication Materials Development
      • Create high-quality materials such as reports, one-pagers, infographics, brochures, newsletters, websites, and StoryMaps.
      • Ensure materials align with client branding and effectively communicate complex topics in accessible ways, based on the target audience.
      • Identify and extract key information from natural resource-focused content, translating it into visually engaging and audience-appropriate materials.
      • Distill complex technical and scientific information into more digestible mediums, such as blog posts, web stories, and website content.
      • Facilitate review processes with clients and with target audiences.
      • Ensure deliverables are compliant with applicable ADA and metadata requirements when required.
    • Document Formatting and Proposal Development
      • Develop and format professional proposals, reports, and other written materials.
      • Copy editing and proofreading.
      • Collaborate with client teams to ensure consistency, clarity, and visual appeal in all deliverables.
    • Graphic Design and Branding
      • Work with client teams to develop branding guidelines that align with their vision, goals, and target audiences, including color schemes, typography, tone, key messages, graphics, and other original elements.
      • Produce visually impactful materials using professional design software.
      • Uphold best practices in graphic design, ensuring accessibility and clarity in all materials.
      • Develop original graphics and templates that align with client-led vision.
    • Website Design and Updates
      • Manage and maintain website content, ensuring a user-friendly and visually appealing design.
      • Collaborate with client teams to develop and integrate new website features and updates.
    • Outreach and Engagement
      • Support the dissemination of materials through appropriate channels, including social media, email campaigns, client platforms, and news outlets.
      • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of communication efforts.
  • Lead project teams, track project progress, and maintain project momentum, as project lead
      • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients
      • Manage the project team and adaptive approach
      • Maintain ongoing and frequent communications with the client
      • Track project timelines and efforts
      • Contribute to completion of work products
      • Deliver presentations and communication about the project
      • Coordinate with team members and external partners to ensure timely delivery of communication products.
  • Support contract management and procurement
    • Identify contracting opportunities and elevate them to the executive team for consideration.
    • Develop high-quality proposals to applicable contracting opportunities.
    • Assist with contract tracking and reporting
  • Generate new connections and relationships through in-person and virtual events, presentations, and networking
  • Expand content expertise through continued learning and discovery
  • Contribute to the “nature-based business model” (NBBM)
    • Participate in ongoing learning opportunities and the identification of new NBBM efforts
    • Engage in on-the-ground NBBM activities and other environmental service
  • Additional duties as identified by executive team
