Utilize your general knowledge of construction standards and techniques to help the CAMP sustain facilities, infrastructures, and ecosystems under WDFW’s care. Provide journey-level skilled computer-aided design (CAD) drafting and design of preliminary functional to basic final contract drawings!

With your experience, you will prepare drawings generated from topographical maps developed from survey information and prepare detailed construction plans developed from rough sketches or verbal instructions supplied by engineers. These are opportunities to calculate and plot graphs, profiles, and other statistical, mathematical or engineering-type graphic illustrations.

What to Expect-

Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Engineering Aide 3 will,

Conduct Drafting:

  • Prepares original drawings utilizing CAD programs.
  • Prepares architectural, civil, electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings.
  • Details and plans from old drawings, and mostly complete sketches, as assigned. 
  • Computes yardages and other quantities subject to check.
  • Drafts finished maps.
  • Revises construction plans with “as built” corrections.

Architectural, Civil, Mechanical, Structural, and Hydraulic Design under the direct supervision of an engineer:

  • Computes quantities of areas and volumes in complex shapes.
  • Computes yardages and other earth moving quantities.

Working Conditions:  

Work Setting, including hazards: Duties are performed in an office setting, and on construction sites (Hatcheries, Offices, Accesses, and Wildlife areas). Field work will include walking on uneven terrain and steep slopes for extended periods of time, tolerating inclement/adverse weather conditions, climbing ladders, working from boats and elevated locations.

Schedule: This position normally works Monday-Friday but may be required to work more than 40 hours per week or on weekends.

Travel Requirements: As required.

Tools and Equipment: Hand tools and survey equipment.

Customer Interactions: Will be working primarily with Project Managers, Lead Engineers, Engineering Tech Supervisor, Engineering Aides, Permitters and Inspectors.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Four (4) years of experience or college level coursework with a major emphasis in Computer Aided Drafting.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).

Important: You must attach two (2) examples of your best drafting work (PDF or DWG or both).

Knowledge of:

  • Drafting software and methods.
  • Drafting techniques.
  • Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Principles of surveying.
  • Basics of engineering.
  • Microsoft computer software (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).

Licenses: Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the required qualifications, our ideal applicant will possess some or all the following:

  • Two (2) years’ experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
