Conservation Planner

The Butte Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) is seeking applicants for a technician/ conservation planner position. This position is funded through a grant from the National Association of Resource Districts and the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) to provide technical assistance to the USDA-NRCS Service Center in Arco, Idaho. The applicant will work with NRCS staff to conduct surveys, create conservation plans, and produce engineering designs for agricultural producers. Preferably, the applicant needs to have a degree in natural resources, soil science, agronomy or related field and be familiar with Microsoft Office and ArcMap. Applicant will need to be able to operate 4-wheel drive vehicles and UTVs, pull/back a trailer, and have excellent customer service skills. A large portion of this position will involve work inside the office creating conservation plans under the supervision of NRCS staff. The applicant will attend NRCS trainings and will need to obtain security clearance to operate NRCS computers. The applicant will also be involved in Butte SWCD activities, including adult/youth educational activities. This is a full-time 12-month position with the potential for extension.
