About the Position:

CCWA is hiring a full-time Conservationist to provide exceptional outdoor educational experiences founded on place and experience-based and three-dimensional learning theories. The programs will center on water, wetlands, and conservation while meeting each group's learning objectives. The Conservationist will lead our monthly homeschool programs, schedule and lead volunteer days, and other programs as assigned. This is an opportunity to create new, accessible programs that merge your passion for outdoor learning with scientific research and the cultural and natural histories of the land.The Conservationist will provide exceptional customer service to our guests while fairly and consistently enforcing site rules. This is an opportunity to get to know our community members and cultivate a sense of community. Our visitors come from across Metro Atlanta and beyond. Other duties include selling merchandise and wildlife viewing permits, trail and parking lot clean-up in the absence of our Facility Worker, garden maintenance, removal of overabundant plant species, and other duties as they arise.

  • Has experience leading outdoor experiences in both rural and metropolitan communities
  • Has a strong knowledge of Georgia's wild species and passion for learning

  • Is organized, consistent, and shows up
  • Is known for their enthusiasm and welcoming personality
  • Is as excited about lesson planning as they are getting their hands dirty in the field

A successful Conservationist will:

  • Take the initiative to learn the science behind our lessons and easily relate that information to various audiences
  • Develop and deliver innovative, interdisciplinary educational experiences
  • Work closely with homeschool parents, formal educators, and group leaders to meet their learning objectives
  • Work well independently and as a team member
  • Be excited to improve our physical site (gardening, removing overabundant species, etc.)
  • Be dedicated to providing equitable experiences for every guest
  • Integrate storytelling into their programs, including the natural and cultural stories from our property
