Project Coordinator - Construction Contracting Assistant

Western Regional Office

Ducks Unlimited, Inc., the world’s leader in wetlands and waterfowl conservation, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Contracting Assistant familiar with federal and state-funded construction projects based in our Western Regional Office in Rancho Cordova, California. The Contracting Assistant will be part of a larger team of conservation professionals working in Ducks Unlimited’s nine Western Region states. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Review of government contracts and grants, specifically for compliance provisions
  • Assist engineers with construction project bidding, prepare and QA/QC bid packages, review, develop, and track contracts, change orders, and insurance/bonding requirements, and complete lien releases
  • Document scanning and control, maintaining project documentation in a standardized and organized manner
  • Adhere to government and internal procurement regulations  
  • Perform project coordination duties and various administrative tasks as needed

Key Qualities, Skills, and Knowledge:

  • An associate's degree in business administration or a construction-related field preferred  
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a comparable position 
  • Knowledge of construction contracting and public works requirements, including. Davis-Bacon and state prevailing wages
  • Experience with conducting the bidding process
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Excel and MS Word
  • Familiar with accounting systems
  • Basic knowledge of project management concepts
  • Self-motivated, lots of initiative, eager to learn, able to work with minimal supervision, but willing to ask questions and seek direction if needed
  • Able to maintain a professional demeanor while working within tight deadlines with a variety of people and personalities.
