POSITION SUMMARY
From concept to completion, the Design Project Manager executes all aspects of client projects, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with technical and contractual requirements, schedules and budgets. The Design Project Manager oversees and coordinates activities for the Design Team. Position will provide the leadership, planning, organization, direction, coordination, and control to meet the client and business objectives on all projects assigned.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Supporting Rock Solid Trail Contracting, LLC ownership and staff in creating/managing trail projects,
    plans and designs.
  • Ensure on-time delivery of project/production commitments to key stakeholders by overseeing project
    planning, scheduling, budgeting, effective communication, and implementation of trail design projects.
  • Manage communications and relationships between Rock Solid and its clients, serving as primary point
    of contact for clients for all assigned projects. Ensures technical and contractual requirements,
    schedules and budgets are disseminated to all functional teams.
  • Lead the project proposal process, with assistance from the team.
  • Prepare project labor schedule and budget schedule for all projects assigned to the design department
  • Set meetings with and coordinate activities of the design team for each project assigned.
  • Work with the design or fabrication team to formulate design alternatives with a solution based
    approach.
  • Implement and utilize project checklists to ensure proper adherence to flow of project progress and documentation.
  • Comply with the assigned project budget, labor schedule, and guidelines for scope of work
  • Ensures compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations pertaining to project
    execution.
  • Prepare and secure approval of all change orders.
  • Monitor progress billing according to preset project milestones.
  • Review and interpret proposed designs, drawings, and fabrication specifications for appropriateness to
    required function and/or company standard.
  • Prepare the Designers labor schedule for all scheduled projects.
  • Perform quality control/construct-ability printing to ensure that the work is performed according to the company standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and needed to ensure successful project completion.

TIME AND TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS:

  • For the first year this position is expected to occupy 40 hours per week. This position is expected to be
    full time.
  • Travel, as necessary, to project sites may occur as needed in pursuit of stated objectives and goals of a
    given project
  • Reports to: Aaron Rogers, President

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Landscape Architecture or design-related field required.
  • Experience in reading, understanding and complying with contracts is a key talent.
  • Three to five years of demonstrated experience as a Project Manager in a design and/or consulting environment.
  •  A background in (or a combination of) bike optimized trails and bike parks, business management, construction management, engineering (civil engineering being a plus), and/or landscape architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in utilizing (or managing production staff utilizing) technology programs such as Adobe Creative Suite, Autodesk Products, GIS, Revit, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or similar mapping and CAD software as applicable.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Windows.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively guide, mentor, coordinate or direct, multiple employees across multiple states.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret prints, financial and job cost reports.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or clarifications from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Excellent knowledge of the outdoor recreation and professional trailbuilding industry and trends impacting the business.
  • Excellent customer service orientation, problem solving & interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with clients and advocate for client needs in a professional manner.
  • Must be able and willing to hike into the jobsite on uneven and rough terrain as required for inspection and site surveys.
