The Director works across program areas and in coordination with the President and Leadership Team to craft proactive and reactive responses to policy developments, develop and advance legislation, engage with agencies, and explain organizational interests. The Director identifies policy change opportunities, participates in researching and writing about policy issues, develops issue campaigns, and helps identify and mobilize coalition partners.
The Director represents Sustainable Northwest before legislative and executive branch agencies at the federal, state and local level and handles press and other media inquiries as appropriate. The Director establishes program priorities, develops and manages the work plan and budget for policy related activities, and takes a lead role in raising funds to carry out program activities.
