Nelson Land Management is an ecological restoration company located in Greenview Illinois. We specialize in prairie, savanna, woodland, and wetland restoration. Our clients include federal, state, municipal, and corporate entities. We cover most of the Central Illinois region occasionally making our way into Iowa and Missouri.
We are currently seeking a full-time permanent employee to join our crew. Thank you for your interest in this position.
Position Description: Forestry/ Conservation Technician
Headquarters: 611 S State Street, Greenview, IL
Pay: $17-$19 /hour depending on education/experience (4 (10-12 hours) day work week)

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Vegetation Management: Brush clearing, herbicide application, prescribed burning
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- HS Diploma. Those with Bachelor’s degree OR related field experience (forestry, biology, agriculture or other natural resources-related field) will be given preference.
- Ability to perform physical work, sometimes under adverse conditions or in inclement weather;
- Ability to operate various types of equipment in a safe and efficient manner (e.g.; chainsaw, brush saw, UTV, water pumps, herbicide sprayers, etc.);
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of experience in natural resources related field
- Ability to obtain related licenses such as first aid, CPR, basic wildland firefighter 130/190 etc. (provided by NLM, if needed)
- Possess, or ability to obtain possession of, IL Department of Agriculture Commercial Pesticide Operator’s license
REQUIRED
- Personal pair of steel (or safety) toe boots
- Leather gloves
*All other personal protective equipment supplied by employer: i.e. disposable ear plugs, chainsaw chaps, hard hat, etc
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT
Employees will work in variable weather conditions; at remote locations; in and around habitat frequented by poison ivy, ticks and mosquitos; on difficult and hazardous terrain; and under physically demanding circumstances. These conditions require:
- considerable physical exertion and/or muscular strain
- 8 -10 hour days in isolated settings
- occasional overnight stays in hotels
- lifting/carrying up to 50lbs
