The Education Specialist at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is responsible for developing and delivering educational programs that promote an understanding of the area's natural, cultural, and historical resources.
The role focuses on creating engaging and informative programs for a variety of audiences, including students, teachers, visitors, and community groups. The Education Specialist plays a crucial role in fostering public awareness and appreciation for conservation, sustainability, and the unique ecosystem of the Mojave Desert. The Education Specialist is tasked with developing and implementing outdoor education programs at RRCNCA, working collaboratively with the BLM’s Education Specialist to design curriculum, and leading hands-on learning experiences that meet Nevada State Science Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards. This includes coordinating school field trips, school assemblies, educational workshops, and outreach programs that align with the BLM’s educational goals and objectives. The position may also involve collaboration with local schools, organizations, and community groups to enhance environmental literacy and inspire stewardship of the RRCNCA’s natural resources.
The Education Specialist will also help develop interpretive materials and collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to ensure meeting the interpretive and education goals at RRCNCA. This role also requires staying informed about current educational trends, conservation practices, and environmental science to provide up-to-date and relevant learning experiences for visitors of all ages.
