Nature's Classroom Institute is "The premier environmental education program". We host residential overnight field trips to school-aged students in Wisconsin, Texas, California, Florida and Maryland.
Role Description and Important Information
This is a seasonal, full-time on-site role as an Environmental Educator at Nature's Classroom Institute. Programming is implemented at both the Palm Harbor, Florida and Brooksville, Florida sites beginning with a week of training starting Monday, February 10th. The Environmental Educator will be responsible for conducting outdoor education programs, teaching about wildlife and ecology, developing curriculum, and promoting environmental education. Environmental Educators report directly to the Education Director and housing is provided to those employees needing to relocate to the Tampa area. Travel may be required ocassionally to implement programming at our other sites across the country, so applicants must be able and willing to travel. Any out-of-state travel that is necessary will be financially covered and arranged by Nature's Classroom Institute. Interviews will be conducted February 3rd-7th.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in outdoor education, wildlife, camp, or environmental education
- Knowledge of curriculum development and ecological principles
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Passion for and commitment to environmental conservation
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals
- Ability to facilitate experiential learning activities
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Education, or related field preferred
Preferred, but not required for Palm Harbor location (NCI can provide training)
- Marine knowledge or experience in marine based subjects
- Experience leading students in canoeing and kayaking
- Lifeguard Certified
