The Environmental Planning and Historic Preservation Cadre (EHP) announces the hiring of EHP Environmental Specialist (ENSP) position under FEMA's Reservist Program.
This is a 2-year appointment in the Excepted Service. Employment is on an intermittent basis.
Key Requirements:
•This position requires a Public Trust background investigation.
•You must be a U.S. citizen to be considered for this position.
•Travel will be required.
•You must be able to obtain and maintain a Government credit card.
Special Physical Requirements:
•Work is performed at a desk, walking, standing, bending, carrying light to medium objects, and in austere conditions.
•Work may take place in undesirable conditions that include exposure to excessive heat, unhealthy environments, and extended hours.
•Housing accommodations may be limited and require stays in temporary structures without electricity.
Duties:
•The Environmental Specialist provides support for the Environmental Planning and Historic Preservation (EHP)Cadre review, reports, and compliance at JFOs during incident management responses.
•Reviews a wide range of environmental, scientific, technical, management, engineering, socio-economic, and legalissues for all FEMA's programs.
•Serves as project or technical monitor for FEMA task orders and Interagency Agreements addressing environmental/historic preservation compliance issues.
FEMA EHP Environmental Specialist (ENSP) Reservist
Makes recommendations to the JFO EHP Manager on environmental and historic preservation policy and procedures, and program guidance and training information on environmental/historic preservation compliance issues.
•Preparation and/or review of studies, written reports, charts, graphs, maps, and other documentation thatdescribes the technical methods and results of surveys of properties identified for environmental impactstatements, environmental assessments, survey reports, and design memoranda. The preparation ofdocumentation may concern items of archaeological, geological, and historical significance in relation to otherenvironmental factors that are considered in selecting and recommending the most desirable plan of development.

Other Information:
•All candidates must be able to deploy with little or no notice to anywhere in the United States and its territories foran extended period of time. Deployments may include working more than eight hours a day, or more than 40 hoursin a given week, including weekends and holidays, and under stressful, physically demanding, and austereconditions. When activated and deployed, you serve in a federal travel status and are entitled to lodging,transportation and per diem reimbursements for authorized expenses in accordance with federal travel regulations.
•All candidates must be available to deploy at all times during the term of this appointment unless pre-approvedthrough authorized Reservist leave. Reservists may take up to 90 days of unpaid Reservist Leave per year.
