Environmental Technician II

This temporary, full-time position will be assigned to the Department of Environmental Quality. This position is located at 512 N Salisbury St, Raleigh, NC 27604.
The incumbent will assist with Aquatic Weed Control field work. Much of the work consists of applying herbicides from small boats. Travel, including overnight stays, will be required. Field work duties include operation/maintenance of equipment (power tools, gas-powered engines, high-pressure sprayers, electric sprayers, and brush cutters); operating vehicles, motorboats, including the towing of trailers; and assisting with aquatic vegetation surveys. Other duties include data entry and writing technical reports. Employee will be required to obtain a NC pesticide operator license within 30 days of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

- Basic knowledge of aquatic ecology.
