Overview

We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Equipment Operator based out of our Warrenton VA field office. In this key role, you will leverage your expertise in operating heavy machinery, performing routine equipment maintenance, and strictly following safety protocols to ensure the success of erosion control projects. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in construction, a quick learning aptitude, and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset. The ability to travel 2-4 nights throughout the week on key projects and home on the weekends. Per Diem and hotel stay provided.

What your day-to-day might look like?

Morning Start

  • Begin the day by gearing up with the appropriate PPE and attending a safety briefing. Review the work plan and the day’s objectives.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and tools, ensuring everything is in safe and efficient working condition.

Safety and Incident Reporting

  • Maintain vigilance in following safety protocols while performing construction tasks.
  • Promptly report any incidents or safety concerns to the manager to maintain a compliant and secure work environment.

Equipment Operation and Maintenance

  • Operate a range of tools and heavy equipment, including skid steers, off-road trucks, excavators, and dozers, to execute erosion control tasks.
  • Perform regular maintenance and inspections on equipment, documenting the procedures and addressing any issues to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Use GPS equipment to set required elevations, ensuring compliance with project specifications.

End-of-Day Wrap-Up

  • Clean and store equipment and tools, preparing for the next day’s operations.
  • Review the day’s progress with the team and manager to ensure goals were met and identify opportunities for improvement.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Capable of walking over uneven surfaces, navigating hills, and climbing on construction equipment.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and performing tasks at ground level.

Qualifications

We would like to talk to you if you have many of the following:

  • Minimum of 2 years of construction experience.
  • Proficiency in operating heavy machinery and construction tools.
  • Basic understanding of project plans and the ability to set grades.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

What will make you stand out?

  • Education: High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • Experience with GPS equipment is a plus, but willingness to learn is required.
