Executive Director
Lake Winnipesaukee Alliance
Meredith, New Hampshire
Executive Director
Gilford, NH
The Lake Winnipesaukee Alliance (LWA) is the leading voice for its protection, defenders of its water quality, and custodians of its future. Through monitoring, comprehensive education programs, active stewardship initiatives, and science-based lake management practices, LWA works to safeguard the lake’s water quality, wildlife habitat, and recreational value today and for generations to come.
Following 15 years of dedicated leadership, LWA’s founding President is retiring in 2025. Having been led expertly by its departing leader, LWA is a strong, resilient organization equipped to carry on the protection of the Lake Winnipesauke watershed with ample community support.
The next Executive Director (ED) will be joining LWA at an auspicious moment when the organization is poised to meaningfully grow its impact. Widespread cyanobacteria blooms during the summer of 2024 highlighted the fragility of the lake’s watershed and reaffirmed the importance of having an organization of LWA’s stature and specialized expertise playing a lead role protecting the lake’s water quality and maintaining the integrity of its watershed. Heightened awareness of the threats facing the lake has resulted in broader stakeholder investment in LWA’s mission and has created an opportunity for LWA to mobilize resources and to galvanize agencies, nonprofits, businesses, and communities to support the organization’s work. The Executive Director will be responsible for continuing to capitalize on this momentum. With the ultimate objective of mitigating the continued environmental impact on the lake, the ED will work to increase the organization’s visibility and brand awareness, to develop long-term fundraising strategies, to build out the LWA team with additional lake scientists and shoreline specialists, to strengthen communication with landowners about the menu of steps they can take to preserve the integrity of the watershed, and to demonstrate the impact of the organization’s work on the lake’s water quality.
The Lake Winnipesauke Alliance seeks a leader who is passionate about the organization’s mission, strategic about its future, and committed to building durable and diverse coalitions that ensure LWA has the requisite resources and support to protect the lake’s water quality and waterfront integrity for generations to come. The next leader of LWA must be ready to join with the Board in pursuing its strategic goals through a demonstrated ability in organizational leadership, constituency building, resource development, and program management and oversight.
The salary range for this position is $100,000-150,000 in addition to a competitive benefits package.
