Responsibilities:

  • Performs a variety of skilled/journey-level building and grounds maintenance and repair work. Examples include maintenance and repairs to existing electrical, HVAC, plumbing, windows, doors, trim, floors, roofing, siding, cabinets, painted surfaces, fences, parking lots, drainage systems, and landscaping. 
  • Maintains a schedule to ensure compliance with all periodic safety inspections, including but not limited to: Fire extinguishers, sprinkler heads, exit lighting, exterior lighting, AED devices, and first aid kits, ensuring supplies have not expired. 
  • Supports contracted activities on NW Region sites providing direct oversight and review. Enforces safety compliance, inspects contracted/vendor work, monitors progress, and completed work. 
  • Assist with management of the Northwest Region office motor pool including assignment of usage, vehicle safety requirements, cleanliness, service intervals, and scheduling maintenance and repairs with region shop mechanic. Ensure MERs/Usage Tickets are collected and submitted for monthly processing.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

  • High school graduation, GED, or equivalent; AND one year of experience as a journey-level worker in building and facilities maintenance, construction, and/or repair work.
    OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Washington State Building Codes (SBC), and other applicable federal, state, and local codes, regulations, and guidelines, including ADA, OSHA, WISHA, and L&I regulations.
  • Experience doing minor repair work on mechanical, motorized, and non-motorized equipment.
  • Experience applying safe working practices and instructing and/or teaching safety skills to other co-workers.
  • Experience using a computer, and Microsoft Office products which includes email, and internet searches.
  • Organizing work and tracking work in process to meet schedules and deadlines.
  • Setting and adhering to priorities.
  • Consistently delivers accurate and timely work.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills as demonstrated by the ability to resolve conflicts, write effectively, and communicate with diverse groups both internal and external.
  • Consistently provide products, repairs, and services that meet the expectations of the customers.
