Job Description:Help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fulfill its mission: To protect and enhance Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.
This permanent position with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) is located at Bonneville Hatchery in Cascade Locks, OR.
The goal of this recruitment is to fill the position at the Fish & Wildlife Technician (FWT) level ($3705 - $5066/mo). However, we encourage candidates to apply for the Fish & Wildlife Technician Entry level ($3429 -$4207/mo.), as the department may consider under-filling the position.
Play a part in providing healthy fish for Oregon! Perform fish culture duties to meet production goals and maintain equipment, grounds and buildings.
What you will do:
In this position, you will work outside to provide care for fish through the complete hatchery cycle. This includes setting up rearing containers, monitoring oxygen and water flow levels, feeding fish, monitoring fish health, and transportation of fish via liberation trucks. You will also perform maintenance on grounds and equipment as well as other duties within a fish hatchery environment.
• This position requires living on station as a condition of employment and working on an on-call basis.
• This position requires the selected applicant to possess a Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL) within six months of hire.

What we are looking for:
Minimum Qualifications:
Fish and Wildlife Technician Option:

An Associate degree in Fisheries Technology, Aquaculture or Aquarium Science;
OR
-
Eighteen months of fish culture (care of fish) experience. (six months of fisheries, fish screens, wildlife or related habitat work experience will count toward this experience).
Note: A higher level degree in Fisheries Science or a closely-related degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological coursework will substitute for the Associate's degree.
Fish and Wildlife Technician Entry Option - Underfill:
Minimum qualifications are not established for this classification (there are no minimum qualifications). Previous related experience is desirable.
