Summary:
This position will work within the John Day Watershed Restoration Program located in John Day, Oregon and will assist in the implementation and monitoring of aquatic habitat improvement projects targeting anadromous salmonids and other focal species. The selected candidate will assist with monitoring efforts such as stream habitat surveys, fisheries surveys (snorkeling, electrofishing), and riparian vegetation surveys, as well as project management activities including project implementation, logistical support, and assisting the lead Fisheries Biologist during construction. This position will also assist with office-based tasks as necessary including data management and reportin
Education and Experience (Required):
- An associate’s degree in Fisheries or Natural Resource studies, plus at least six months of experience natural resource type work OR a minimum of three years experience with fisheries/natural resources with strong proficiency in knowledge and skills.
- Familiarity with Pacific Northwest salmonids, and their habita
- Must have a current Oregon Driver’s License, be able to pass a Drug Test, and a Background Check upon hiring. Ability to obtain drone pilot’s license upon hiring is desired.
- Ability to lift objects in excess of 50lbs, and ability to withstand several hours in hot and/or inclement weather.
- Applicant must be familiar with MS Office software tools. Ability to use GPS and tablets for data collection is strongly desired.
- Qualified individuals must have excellent people and communication skills and the ability to communicate needs to complete projects within given timeframes.
- Excellent organizational skills.
