Great intro level job for Plant lovers, Weed warriors, aspiring Botanists in the Sierra Nevada Foothills of California.  

Come work for CA State Parks and gain experience in Restoration Ecology and Plant Identification.  We are seeking 2 seasonal Forestry Aides to assist with removing Invasive plants and perform plant surveys in multiple State Parks in the Sierra Nevada region, including Lake Tahoe.  Positions work for 9-10 months per year with a seasonal layoff.   Based out of the Grass Valley / Nevada City area.  

We are looking for people with some college experience in botany, ecology, restoration, and anyone with professional experience in landscaping, horticulture and weed abatement.  We use all different tools for invasive plant removal including weed-eaters.

The Forestry Aide position will assist in invasive plant control, ecological restoration, native plant propagation, and botanical surveys at multiple state parks within Nevada County and in the Sierra Nevada Region. Additional duties include leading volunteers and work crews in natural resource restoration projects; geo-spatial mapping (GIS) using tablets and apps (Field Maps, Survey123, Avenza); trail maintenance work; natural resource inspections; and office work which includes writing reports, creating maps using ArcGIS software, and entering information into databases.  Experience in botany, landscape maintenance, ecological restoration, forestry, and knowledge of California native plants is desired.
