Global Entomology Coalition

Remote, Remote

Job Type Unpaid
Salary Details 0
Deadline Nov 01, 2024
Experience 0 - 1 years

Company Description

The Global Entomology Coalition (GEC) exists to create a paradigm shift in public perception of insects and propel entomological research forward.

At the core of the GEC’s objectives is the promotion of research that addresses critical issues related to insect biodiversity, ecology, behavior, and physiology. By facilitating communication and collaboration among experts across various disciplines, the coalition aims to accelerate scientific discoveries and develop effective strategies for insect conservation and discovery.

Education and outreach are at the core of our mission. The GEC provides resources, training programs, educational initiatives, and open research expeditions to the public, inspiring and fostering appreciation for the vital behaviors, adaptations, and environmental roles insects play in maintaining global ecological balance.

We develop partnerships with biological field stations across the globe to craft expeditions and new research initiatives conducted by intrepid travelers, not solely entomologists, with a true sense of pioneering adventure. Participants experience some of the most remote, untouched, and critical habitats on the planet while contributing to actual scientific discovery and conservation, often becoming published researchers in the process. This generates essential funding for each partner station. Additionally, Expedition Entomology helps to fund our grant and scholarship program distributed annually to applicants (individuals, researchers, students, stations, etc.).
