DCA is seeking a Grants Coordinator. The Grants Coordinator will coordinate subgrant programs including the Certified Local Government and Georgia Heritage Grant programs. Supports the disaster preparedness and recovery subgrants to local communities, as needed. Manages grant application, review, award, and close out processes.  Prepares contracts, reviews quarterly reporting, and draft documents (survey reports, design guidelines, condition assessment reports, etc.) produced by grantees in coordination with staff subject area experts.  Tracks grant financials and completes all annual reporting.  Provides guidance and technical advice to applicants relative to required Section 106 and NEPA reviews. Fields inquiries from the public, publicizes grant programs, and identifies future grants opportunities.  Assists in development of grant database system (NR-TIGERS) and easement reporting/tracking.  Creates and provides training for NR-TIGERS system.  Mangages and maintains accurate grant records in NR-TIGERS.  Supports other HPD program areas and participates in special projects as necessary.  Position requires up to 30% travel

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages grant application, review, award, and close out processes. 
  • Reviews contracts, quarterly reporting, and draft documents (survey reports, design guidelines, condition assessment reports, etc.) produced by grantees in coordination with staff subject area experts.  
  • Tracks grant financials and completes all annual reporting. 
  • Provides guidance and technical advice to applicants relative to required Section 106 and NEPA reviews.
  • Fields inquiries from public, publicizes grant programs, and identifies future grants opportunities. 
  • Assists in development of grant database system. 
  • Supports other HPD program areas and participates in special projects as necessary. 

Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in history, architecture, historic preservation or a closely related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of experience in a directly related field OR two years of experience required at the lower-level Curator/Preservationist 2 (NRP031) or position equivalent.

Position Requirements:

Job candidate for this position will be subject to a criminal background check, educational degree check, and reference checks prior to the extension of a job offer. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following qualifications:
  • Completion of a Master's degree in Historic Preservation or closely related field
  • Strong project management skills including experience managing or distributing grants
  • Experience completing historic preservation reports and projects such as historic resource surveys, condition assessment reports, Section 106 reports
  • Understanding of state and federal grant requirements including the Historic Preservation Fund Grant Manual
  • Extensive experience in public speaking and relaying technical preservation information
  • Experience working with a core SHPO program such as Tax Incentives, National Register, CLG, or Environmental Review
  • Experience managing budgets and federal budgeting requirements
  • Experience interpreting construction drawings, plans, and the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation
  • Understanding of preservation easement contracts and maintenance requirements
