The Mosaics intern will focus on creating GIS tools for the Cuyahoga River, addressing visitor use, aquatic species, water quality, and fluvial geomorphology. Key responsibilities include compiling fish data, publishing it on ArcGIS Online (AGOL), and creating data collection tools. This role supports understanding the impacts of visitor use, dam removal, climate change, and fish stocking on the river ecosystem. The intern will use ArcGIS Pro to develop GIS layers, maps, and dashboards, and will design a public creel survey with QR codes. Additional duties include natural resource management (e.g., bird banding, water testing), and public outreach. Equipment includes tablets, GNSS receivers, and field gear, with fieldwork involving hiking and working in wetlands and rivers.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online; experience with ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 is preferred.
- Coursework or experience in ESRI products.
- Able to work outdoors in challenging environments, carry up to 30 lbs, maintain a positive attitude, and demonstrate situational awareness, particularly around water.
- Attention to detail, adherence to protocols, and clear communication skills (written and verbal) are essential.
- Kayaking, canoeing, or rafting experience.
