GIS Specialist, Natural Resource Scientist 3
Location: Natural Resources Building- Olympia, WA
Work Hours and Partial Telework flexibility may be available and considered
Relocation Compensation may be available and considered
Salary: $5,643.00 - $7,589.00 Monthly
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and publishing map services that make our wide array of geologic datasets available to the public via our Geologic Information Portal, with databases covering topics ranging from geologic mapping, landslide inventories, and tsunami inundation modeling to subsurface borehole logs and geophysical data compilations.
- Designing, developing, and maintaining interactive GIS web map applications, such as story maps, dashboards, experiences, and instant apps.
- Providing GIS training and technical support to our scientists by acting as a go-to person for GIS questions in the Survey.
- Patience and good communication both verbally and in writing to train people with a range of comfort levels with technology.
- An appreciation for teamwork, and a positive, diligent, solutions-oriented work ethic.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography or other related field,
AND 3 years of experience in the following areas:- Using ArcGIS Pro
- Working with Esri GIS solutions, including publishing map services and developing
online map experiences and apps using Esri tools - Designing and managing database schemas
OR an equivalent combination of education and (or) experience.
- Experience in explaining complex topics orally and in writing to a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences.
- Working knowledge of geographic map projections, datums, and coordinate systems.
