Wildlands Engineering, Inc. is seeking a motivated individual to join our GIS team with the potential to work in the Raleigh, Asheville or Charlotte office. The GIS Technician I will be responsible for producing high-quality maps and data that are integral to all stages of project development for a variety of stream, wetland, and ecosystem restoration sites. Other duties include the development and maintenance of mapping and data management standards, processing of LiDAR data, and assisting with curation of in-house GIS datasets and related content hosted in ArcGIS Online (AGOL). This full-time position supports other GIS team members and works collaboratively across other teams within the company.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Produce well-designed maps upon request for various teams with thoughtful composition and attention to detail
- Work in collaboration with team members to advance projects through all phases of development, interpreting and adapting to changing mapping needs as a project develops
- Assist in developing and maintaining GIS mapping and data management standards
- Assist in locating potentially useful GIS datasets and sources and verifying quality of datasets
- Assist in the organization and maintenance of centralized GIS data on AGOL
- Effectively communicate and coordinate with team members, and other staff
- Meet multiple deadlines with a willingness to react positively to changes in priorities
Desired Qualifications
- A four-year degree in GIS, geospatial technology, or related natural science field
- 2-4 years of experience using GIS in a professional setting
- Proficiency with map production and geoprocessing workflows in ArcGIS Pro
- Experience with organizing and maintaining local geodatabases and various AGOL content
- Experience editing GIS data with a high degree of accuracy
- Experience using LiDAR data and delineating watersheds
- Understands and follows cartographic standards
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office including Excel
- Able to spend long periods of time in front of a computer
Physical Demands
- Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods
- Long hours in front of a computer and computer screen
- Visual acuity for preparing and analyzing written or computer data
