About the Grant Administrator Position

The Grant Administrator will work under general supervision of Executive and Associate Directors to assist the Watershed Conservation Resource Center (WCRC) to achieve its mission of protecting, conserving and restoring natural resources using a watershed approach. The successful candidate will work primarily to manage, track, and prepare reports on expenditures and reimbursement requests for grants awarded to WCRC. This is a full-time, salaried, and exempt position.

The WCRC is a nonprofit organization in Fayetteville, Arkansas that strives to protect, conserve and restore natural resources by utilizing the watershed approach, environmental outreach and providing planning and technical assistance to landowners, communities and government. For 20 years, the WCRC has been committed to making a difference through conservation and restoration, specializing in ecological restoration with focus on streams and riparian areas. The WCRC has successfully restored over 40,000 feet of river and stream banks, with projects ranging from small urban streams to large rivers in Northwest Arkansas. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

The primary responsibility is to oversee and administer grants from government or private foundations. Duties include:

  • Preparing grant subaward contracts in accordance to applicable policies
  • Oversee subrecipients, contractors, and vendors to ensure grant compliance and successful project execution
  • Track and report on project progress (includes project team members progress reporting), expenditures, and purchases. Measure and report accomplishments against proposed timelines and milestones
  • Prepare and submit applicable progress reports on grant implementation and planned activities
  • Ensure adherence to procurement procedures for contracting and/or purchasing materials and prepare required documentation
  • Assist research and documentation on materials pricing
  • Develop and track bid documents
  • Prepare and/or review invoices and reimbursements for subawardees

Other responsibilities include assist with the development and submittal of grant applications and other duties as assigned:

  • Seek grant opportunities and understand application requirements
  • Coordinate submission of and assist staff with proposals for federal and state grants
  • Other duties as assigned including but not limited to:
    • Coordinating and participating in public meetings and outreach events
    • Creating and conducting presentations
    • Assist with organization fiscal management tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s  Degree in public administration, business administration, natural resources management, or closely related discipline
  • 3-5 years of experience in grant administration or related field
  • Strong understanding of federal and state grant regulations
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Proficiency in tracking and reporting on financial and project progress
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with project planning software tools (e.g., MS Project, Trello, Asana)
  • Experience with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and/or other online meeting platforms

Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Master’s Degree in public administration, business administration, natural resources management or closely related discipline
  • Over five (5) years of professional experience in grant administration or a related field
  • Professional experience managing federal funding and reporting (e.g., EPA or USDA NRCS)
  • Ability to conduct research and data analysis
  • Interest and enthusiasm for conservation and ecological restoration

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position requires working full days of sitting or standing. Occasional travel for meetings will be required. Occasional evening and weekend work hours may also be required.

Expected Salary and Benefits

$45,000 to $70,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include:
