Habitat Restoration Assistant Project Manager
Integrated Resource Management (IRM) is a full service environmental consulting firm based in Philomath, Oregon. IRM assists progressive landowners and agencies with a full range of forestry management services including forest inventory, timber cruising, and timber sale layout. IRM is currently recruiting a full-time habitat restoration assistant project manager. This position will be based out of our Albany, Oregon field office. This position will be responsible for completing habitat restoration projects. The position will involve a combination of field work including but not limited to herbicide application, weed pulling, saw work, slash pile building, burning and other manual labor in addition to updating project databases, crew safety sheets and equipment maintenance. This is an ideal position for a highly motivated individual interested in gaining experience in forestry and habitat restoration by working on a variety of projects.
Successful candidates will work on a range of projects within the Willamette Valley of western Oregon, from Eugene to Portland. Candidates will be expected to obtain a herbicide applicator license in the State of Oregon and become proficient in the operation of ATVs, UTVs as well as canoe and zodiac boat operation. The assistant project manager position will split time operating under the direction of lead project manager in a technician role as well as supervise their own crew of technicians as needed.
Individuals will be asked to conduct the following field work as part of their position:
- Chainsaw operation
- ATV/UTV operation
- Canoe/zodiac boat operation
- Herbicide application on invasive species
- Manual labor
- Slash pile burning
- Tree planting
- Weed pulling
Requirements:
- Must have a minimum of two years of secondary education in forest management, restoration ecology or related field with demonstrated coursework in botany and ecology.
- Must have a working understanding of the use of PC’s including the following programs: MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS IE.
- Must have proferssional experience in a leadership role
- Experience with GPS mapping.
- Excellent plant identification skills.
- Ability to perform field work in a variety of weather and topographic conditions.
- Open minded and enthusiastic about taking on new challenges, tasks, and projects.
- Self-motivated, high level of work ethic and able to work unsupervised for long periods of time.
- Be a licensed driver with a clean driving record.
Compensation as a technician:
- $16.00 per hour, 40 hours per week
- Per diem when working away from home over night and/or a travel stipend.
Compensation as a Crew Lead:
- $16.00 per hour, 40 hours per week
- Paid hourly travel time
- $25/day bonus
- Per diem when working away from home over night and/or a travel stipend.
