Position Description

As the Associate Logistics Manager (ALM), you'll work alongside the High Sierra Administrative Team to support the day-to-day logistics management of our wilderness backpack & rock climbing programs. The ALM is a role model and mentor within the High Sierra community, providing staff mentorship, administrative support, and management of the High Sierra basecamp and programs. The ALM reports to the Logistics Manager and together, they oversee a small team of three to five Logistics Coordinators.

Areas of oversight include: logistics scheduling, logistics staff training and supervision, equipment acquisition and management, driving, vehicle coordination, inventory management, and food program. Compensation & Schedule

  • This is an exempt, seasonal salaried position of approximately 6.5 months in length, tentatively scheduled late-March  - Oct 5th
  • Monthly salary ranges from $3,450 - $3,900, depending on experience

Location

This position is located at our High Sierra program base in Midpines, California, in the Sierra Nevada foothills 30 miles east of Yosemite National Park.  High summer temperatures are regularly 80-100+ degrees Fahrenheit. The basecamp has a main building with an office, warehouse, commercial kitchen, program gear sheds, and weather port living quarters (durable fabric structures).

Who We Are

We are Outward Bound California (OBCA). Through challenging outdoor experiences, we teach social-emotional skills like teamwork, leadership, confidence, and compassion. We offer a wide range of programs, including high/low ropes activities at our San Francisco Challenge Course and multi-day rock climbing/backpacking trips in the High Sierra or Joshua Tree. Our programs help our participants (ages 12+, including adults and veterans) embrace challenges and reflect on how they want to contribute to their communities and the world. 

We are a part of the Outward Bound USA network with a 60-year history in the US as a leading provider of outdoor education. OBCA is a non-profit and is committed to increasing access for those who have traditionally been excluded from outdoor spaces.
