Position description
A paid summer internship at Mount Rushmore.
Duties include
• Formal interpretive talks
• Staffing desks in the Information Center and Lincoln Borglum Visitor Center
• Providing Junior Ranger experiences
• Answering information requests by mail and phone
• Collateral duties that support visitor center operations
Over the course of the internship you will create several interpretive products including guided walks and short talks on the carving process. You will work directly with interpretive coaches to write your own talks. You will practice informal interpretation while roving the park grounds. Park operations and supporting skills will be learned through training and experience.

Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have a background in history, natural science, recreation, communication, tourism, or other related fields. Applicant must also enjoy working with the public and demonstrate effective verbal and written communication. This position requires strong teamwork, self-motivation, and time management.
Requirements
Interviews will be held by video call. Internship starts May 2025. Uniforms are provided and required while on duty. Personal transportation is required to get to the worksite. Work schedule averages 40 hours/week with consecutive days off. This position is required to work evenings, holidays, and weekends.
