The Chippewa Luce Mackinac Conservation District is seeking interested applicants to serve as an Invasive Species Team Member for the Three Shores Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area. The positions will start as early as Mid-May 2025 dependent upon applicant availability and extend through Mid-August 2025, with some flexibility on the end date. Applicants selected for this position will be expected to work a full 40 hours per week with occasional irregular hours, weekends, and overnight trips as needed. 

The selected applicants for this position will be expected to conduct invasive species management through manual mechanical, and chemical removal, provide accurate and precise invasive species delineation surveys, ensure thorough and proper data collection, maintain field equipment, and assist in outreach events as needed. This position will require the applicant to conduct fieldwork in all weather conditions and be able to lift and carry 50 pounds on a daily basis. Chosen applicants will also be expected to have reliable transportation as the use of an employee’s personal vehicle will be required during employment at certain times. The employee will be expected to follow the guidance of their crew leader and will be supervised by the Invasive Species Program Coordinator. Any chosen applicants without a Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License or Boater’s Safety Certification will be given the opportunity to obtain either or both if need be.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Valid State Driver’s license
  • Punctual
  • Ability to work with peers and general public
  • ·Reliable personal transportation
  • Ability to pass a federal background check
  • In Pursuit of, or obtained, a degree in a natural resources field of study

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Field experience in invasive species identification 
  • ArcMaps and Survey123 proficiency
  • Boat & Kayak experience including operation and basic maintenance
  • Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License

Location: 

Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan (Office Location: 2847 Ashmun St.) Field work will consist within all of Chippewa, Luce, and Mackinac Counties.

Compensation:

$15.00-$16.00/hr; mileage reimbursement (when the use of a personal vehicle is required for travel).
