Adventure Sixty North

Seward, Alaska

Job Type Temporary
Salary Details 18.00 hr 1st year / more with multiple year experience
Experience 0 - 1 years

We're looking for enthusiastic people that would like to work and guide professional trips in Kenai Fjords National Park. Adventure Sixty North is a premier outdoor adventure center offering guided sea kayaking, hiking adventures and more. We are in remote Seward, Alaska. The season runs from May-September.  We provide guided trips from 2 hours to 5-day-multiday adventures. Join us for a summer full of kayaking, hiking, gold panning, driving shuttles, working logistics, and more while living and working in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Our guides do multiple jobs here at the Adventure Sixty North base, which breaks up the week and summer, keeping life interesting and fun.

We love and enjoy our guides and want to ensure that they have the tools they need to be successful. Required training includes 2 weeks of daily training, where you learn the area, hiking trails, various wilderness camping such as Leave no Trace Ethics, kayak paddling and rescue instruction, and walk away with an ACA assessment including additional training throughout the spring. While we offer a training program that starts April 28th, a requirement for all our guides is to have their Wilderness First Responder Cert before starting training. Safety is an important part of our company culture, and we want to make sure everyone is set up for success. Training will include shadowing trips with senior/lead guides to learn the area and to get confident with group dynamics and trip timing. Be forewarned, many of our guides that have worked for other companies say our training is the most in-depth training they have encountered. We think that this is a great thing and huge opportunity for anyone wanting to guide anywhere in the world.

Housing is offered on site as a courtesy without charge, but we require you follow the company rules regarding on-site conduct and maintaining shared living spaces clean and organized! Failure to abide by the rules may and can result in revocation of on-site housing as well as employment. We know housing can be a large stress factor for seasonal employees, and because of that we offer various shared housing options for employees that we hire. Some of our housing includes a bunk house, lofted areas, and a bus. Our base offers a shared kitchen and a shared shower. While most meals are not included, we love to gather as a group and have potlucks in our beautiful backyard and share the goodness. (However, if your tour/trip offers meals, the guide is also included with meals too) The culture at Adventure Sixty North is more of a family culture that brings pride in yourself by providing professional guiding to our guests and to our company.
