Our premier Reserve, Vermejo, is currently seeking a Lake Attendant who is eager to assist in creating exciting and unforgettable outdoor experiences for guests. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, fishing, and shooting.

ABOUT THE POSITION
As a Lake Attendant, you will conduct daily rounds throughout the reserve to ensure the lakes and boats are clean and well-maintained. 

You will also be responsible for: 

  • Driving throughout the property daily to inspect the status of all lakes, ensuring they meet guest expectations by maintaining and cleaning fishing boats and equipment, checking latrines, and collecting trash.
  • Assisting other Guides in preparing for their guest activities as needed.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of and adhere to the highest standards of first aid, safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene.
  • Following established quality standards and presentation techniques for Ted Turner Reserves Guides.
  • Complying with all applicable New Mexico laws and regulations.
  • Keeping guest service vehicles and equipment clean, well-maintained, and in excellent condition.
  • Relaying guest feedback to the appropriate department leadership.
  • Actively seeking opportunities to assist other departments and support their efforts.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

 What this isn’t:

  • A management or supervisory position

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

  • Friendly, personable, and approachable with a passion for providing excellent guest experiences.
  • Strong knowledge or willingness to learn about water safety, boating, and outdoor recreation.
  • This position requires operation of vehicles, and you’ll need to possess a valid driver’s license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment.  Your driving record will need to meet the standards and requirements of the Company and the Company’s insurance provider.
  • You’ll need to present documentation establishing both identity and employment authorization within three days of hire pursuant to federal law.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in a similar outdoor or guest services role.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 
  • Certification in recreation, tourism, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a luxury hospitality setting.

ACCOMMODATIONS
This position will require you to live on Vermejo headquarters, located approximately 40 miles from the closest town (Raton, NM). Vermejo’s location is approximately 4.5 hours’ drive south of Denver or 4.5 hours’ drive north of Albuquerque.

Vermejo offers single- and double-bedroom dorm room style company housing (subject to availability). You may be subject to sharing a room with one other employee depending on the availability of a single dorm room.

You will need to provide or arrange for your own transportation to and from Raton for personal supplies.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
On a regular basis, you can expect to:

  • Stand; walk; move hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. 
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform physical labor for extended periods of time.
  • Be on your feet for extended periods of time.

You can expect to frequently lift and/or move 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. 

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

You may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and extreme cold and heat. You will be occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
