Land Program Planner
Position Overview:
The Land Program Planner plays a key role in overseeing the management, operations, and stewardship of parks and conservation lands within the Conservation Division (RCCD). The RCCD manages over 3,800 acres of county-owned lands dedicated to conservation, nature-based recreation, eco- and heritage tourism, along with more than 1,200 acres of conservation easements. The Land Program Planner will lead efforts in planning, organizing, conducting, and coordinating the maintenance, daily operations, and programming of these lands.
Key responsibilities include developing proposals, budgets, and both short-term and long-term management plans. These plans will address various aspects of land management such as timber, road, and park management, while collaborating with contractors, other government agencies, and the public to ensure best practices and community involvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and conduct the day-to-day operations of county-owned conservation lands and parks.
- Develop and implement land management plans, including forest and road management, site restoration, and public use initiatives.
- Prepare and monitor annual and long-term budgets for land management activities.
- Coordinate with contractors, government agencies, and the public on conservation and park management projects.
- Oversee public programs related to nature-based recreation, eco-tourism, and heritage tourism on RCCD lands.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices for land stewardship.
- Assist in securing funding or grants for conservation projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, forestry, land management, public administration, or a closely related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in environmental conservation, land management, or park management.
- Strong knowledge of conservation principles and land stewardship practices.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, contracts, and collaborative projects.
- Excellent communication skills for working with the public, agencies, and contractors.
- Valid state driver’s license.
