Service member will be serving at Friends of the Middlesex Fells. Land Stewardship Coordinators focus their service activities on natural resources management. Our mission is to promote the conservation, appreciation, and sustainable enjoyment of the Middlesex Fells Reservation. We envision a Middlesex Fells Reservation where nature and people thrive in harmony, supported by a diverse and caring community conserving it for future generations.

Friends of the Middlesex Fells is interviewing candidates for a Land Stewardship Coordinator (LSC). The LSC will engage with the Community Engagement and Operations Manager to manage volunteers on community service projects, educate or train individuals in environmental stewardship or environmentally conscious practices, and complete three capacity building projects. Potential projects include: 

  • Formalization of our hiking program and the creation of a volunteer hike-leading training program and orientation.
  • Lead monthly orientations for our Trail Adopter program and monthly volunteer days that focus on documenting, identifying, and removing invasive plants.
  • Collect extensive data on Fells usage, bio-pollution, phenology, plant, and wildlife to share with a park-wide citizen science program.
