Summary/Objective
Provide direct professional supervision of all engineering surveys performed by staff.
Essential Job Duties
- Organize requests for land boundary surveys, easement and right-of-way survey descriptions and develop a priority and schedule for completion.
- Plan and direct activities of surveyors and field crews on a variety of land boundary and construction/maintenance and facility maintenance survey projects.
- Schedule and assign required personnel for engineering and boundary survey projects.
- Ensure compliance with all state laws, statues and regulations.
- Oversee the maintenance of survey control records and indexes.
- Manage consultant/third party contract writing and administration.
- Review and approve time sheets, leave slips, expense reports, pay vouchers, vehicle reports, and routine purchase receipts.
- Assist in developing the Division operating and equipment purchase budget.

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least twelve (12) credit hours of survey related college coursework.
- Eight (8) years of experience in general surveying, (1) year which must have been in an administrative/supervisory capacity.
- Must maintain a valid, current driver's license.
- Professional Land Surveyor license in the state of Missouri.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to plan and direct activities of field crews on a variety of survey projects.
- Advanced knowledge of electronic survey equipment, including total station, data collectors, GPS (survey grade), theodolites, levels and programmable calculators.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, check for potential problems and notify appropriate staff for solutions.
- Knowledge of changes in application of statutes, rules, regulations and laws that govern the surveying profession.
- Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to make independent decisions and act quickly and decisively on the determined course of action.
- Ability to work under stress for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to work varied hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to travel and stay overnight regularly.
Work Environment
- Regularly work in a standard office environment.
- Occasionally work in outdoor weather environments (cold/hot/humid/wet).
Physical Abilities
- Remain in a stationary position 70% or more of the time.
- Move about grounds, both inside and outside of buildings.
- Constantly operate tools and other machinery and relocate machinery to other areas.
- Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.
- Clarity of vision, three-dimensional vision, precise hand-eye coordination, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
- Regularly lift up to 15 pounds, correctly lift up to 30 pounds.
- Concentrated attention is required at all times.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
