Lead Secretariat

Ecologists Without Borders

NA, Remote

Job Type Unpaid
Salary Details NA
Deadline Oct 10, 2024
Experience 0 - 1 years

This is the perfect role for an early career student or professional pursuing a career in environmental non-profit management, or for someone who is retired and would like to give back from their wealth of experience to help EcoWB cultivate the next generation of environmental leaders. You must be in the Western Hemisphere in order to coordinate meetings with other U.S. based volunteers.

We are a collective of volunteer scientists, activists, students and business owners with connections around the world to community scale eco-project makers. Over the past few years, Ecologists Without Borders has taken great strides towards building our organization into a professional NGO pro-bono consulting service. In preparation for the next stage in our campaign, we are searching for one-two volunteer leaders to support the board of directors in developing new projects, volunteer recruitment, and carrying out the 2024-2028 Strategic Plan.

Over the course of 2025, you will receive constant training and mentorship to prepare you to chair our projects committee and lead our Secretariat team, which can naturally transition into your joining the Board of Directors, if desired. The role will consist of scheduling monthly meetings with Team members, tracking progress on assignments, reviewing quarterly reports, reporting to the Board of Directors, welcoming new committee members, leading peer review of the letters of interest we recieve, training new Secretariat members, conducting introductory calls with potential project makers, and editing grants.

Requirements: This is a demanding, but very rewarding volunteer role to provide you with training and expertise necessary to take an active role in runing our organization. While work experience is important and will be considered, the primary requirements are:

  • Living in the Western Hemisphere
  • Strong passion for social responsibility, and environmental conservation and management
  • Having at least 20 hours/month to donate
  • Good editorial skills and professional style
  • A commitment towards progressing to join our Executive volunteer leadership team

International or multi-cultural experience including proficiency in a second language strongly preferred. The role is ideal for a student, recent graduate or retired professional with lots of energy and time to give.

Tools Provided: You will learn how to use the Neon CRM, and be provided with Office 365 Business license, as well as access to other EcoWB platforms for administrative work.
