Organic Lifestyle Employment Opportunity in the Andes Mountains of Southern Ecuador

We are seeking a harmonious couple (life-partners or friends) to join our team as stewards of a most unique and special place - an organic food forest, pristine watershed, and nature sanctuary. This is an excellent opportunity for those for who are passionate about organic living, permaculture, and sustainability.  

Location: Our Sanctuary is located in the province of Loja approximately 45 minutes drive from Vilcabamba, and 1.5 hours from the city of Loja. There is no road access to our location. A well maintained rustic trail is the portal.

Site Description: The sanctuary is situated in a well established, organic food forest and pristine watershed. There is no phone service however we do have high speed fiber optic internet and modest, clean, comfortable accommodations. We are solar powered with grid back-up. Solitude is abundant here as is peace of mind. Our permaculture method is a form of artistic expression. We are also involved in the reforestation of a mountain side.

Duration: Ideally, we are seeking those who can commit to one or more years.  The minimum requirement for this opening is a commitment of 6 months.

Responsibilities: As stewards of our site, you will be responsible for a diverse range of tasks related to the care, maintenance, and co-creation of our nature sanctuary and accomodations. This includes everything from organic gardening and orchard maintenance to maintenance and construction of structures, landscaping, soil ecology, water source management, erosion and fire prevention, dog care and training, micro-business enterprise development, culinary arts, sourcing of goods and services, site security, accounting, and record keeping.

Requisites:

• High integrity
• Energetic and skilled
• Autonomous self-starters with positive "can-do" attitude
• Passionate about organic lifestyle / permaculture / sustainability
• Capable communicator in both Spanish & English.
• Ability to legally reside within Ecuador during the duration of the contract.
• Comfortable living & working in a remote mountainous area
• Excellent physical & mental health
