Our Zanzibar-based NGO runs a permanent coastal and marine conservation camp in Zanzibar. We are involved in activities such as marine turtle egg relocation, coral reef restoration, waste management, environmental education, sustainable development of coastal communities, research and data collection, and promotion of permaculture farming. You'll work alongside our experienced team, contributing to the daily operations and development of our Marine & Coastal Conservation Camp. This internship is ideal for individuals passionate about environmental sustainability and seeking to build practical skills in program coordination, project development, and volunteer management.
What You'll Learn & Do:
- Program Coordination: Assist in scheduling and managing activities for international volunteers (up to 32 participants), gaining insight into logistical coordination and operational efficiency.
- Project Development: Contribute to the design and implementation of new marine conservation, community development, and educational projects, with a focus on snorkel-based activities.
- Operational Support: Participate in daily activity monitoring, logistical support, and direct involvement in conservation efforts.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with and learn from the Activity Leader Team, gaining exposure to team leadership and activity execution.
- Data Analysis: Assist in collecting, analyzing, and presenting research data from conservation projects, developing your analytical skills.
- Volunteer Engagement: Support the integration and motivation of international volunteers, learning effective communication and intercultural skills.
- Optional (Bonus): Develop graphic design skills using Canva or similar tools to create promotional materials.
Your Profile:
- Passion for marine and environmental conservation, sustainability, or related fields.
- Interest in learning how to plan and implement educational and research activities.
- Strong organizational skills and a desire to develop project and team management abilities.
- Aptitude for data collection, processing, and analysis.
- Proactive, hands-on approach and willingness to participate in diverse activities.
- Interest in working with international volunteers.
- Optional: Basic familiarity with Canva or graphic design.
- Adaptable and enthusiastic about working in a dynamic environment.
