Position Overview

The Wolf Conservation Center (WCC) is a 501c3 non-profit environmental education organization that advances the survival of wolves by inspiring a global community through education, advocacy, research, and recovery.

Managing the business needs of the Center goes beyond day-to-day operations, and into the strategic direction and use of its brand. WCC experiences incredible support from millions of engaged followers online, as well as thousands of visitors to its campus yearly. In recognition of this, and to continue supporting its mission of advocacy, education, animal care, and research, as well as raising fund to support the mission, the Merchandizing Specialist will partner with the CEO, programmatic, and development teams to ensure the Center is optimizing merchandise sales and exceeding its branding and merchandising goals.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Merchandising (75%)
    • Oversee the design, production, and sales of WCC merchandise and virtual animal adoption program.
    • Manage a dynamic online store, including accurate inventory management, timely order fulfillment, and excellent customer service.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to create marketing materials that reflect WCC’s brand and mission.
    • Elevate the customer experience with enhanced fulfillment strategies to include personal connection with the buyer to enhance WCC’s relationship with them.  
    • Ensure consistent and effective branding across all merchandise.
    • Create, develop, and execute strategies to increase merchandise sales and promote new products.
    • Seek new vendor sources for a dynamic and diverse merchandise line that reflects the mission and values of the organization and its supporters.
    • Evaluate sales data to determine KPIs and recommend strategy changes or adjustments going forward.
  • Customer Service (25%)
    • Develop guidelines to be used across the organization to assure a consistent culture of customer service.
    • Be the front-line representative of the organization to merchandise customers and be abreast of WCC work and mission. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or related experience required.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in e-commerce, retail, design, or managing store networks.
  • Knowledge of retails trends and consumer behavior.
  • Experience with merchandising and e-commerce software or systems.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills. 
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for wildlife conservation and the mission of the Wolf Conservation Center. 

Compensation & Benefits

The salary for this role is $25 - $29 per hour. Salary ranges at WCC are standardized based on role level and function.

The Merchandising Specialist will work an estimated twenty hours weekly and can expect increased working hours during holidays and special events.
