Come work with the National Forest Foundation and USDA Forest Service as a Reforestation Specialist to gain diverse experience in forest management during the 12 week internship (contract) position! Opportunities will include, but not be limited to:
- Red pine cone crop forecasting and inspection
- Stocking and survival surveys
- Natural regeneration surveys
- Manual site preparation for regeneration
- Nonnative invasive species (NNIS) treatments
- Common stand exams
- Post-harvest monitoring
- Wildfire surveys
- Photo & video collection of fieldwork and content creation for communication efforts
Work will occur on the Huron-Manistee National Forests, Huron Shores Ranger District, in Michigan.
Housing is available in Oscoda, Michigan. Anticipated work period is June through October (480 hours/approx.12 weeks). Ending date is flexible through October. Learn more here.
