OFFICE LOCATION
This position may be located at a home or TNC office within the Micronesia Region (Federates States of Micronesia, Republic of Palau, Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Guam).

WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER
The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist leads the development and implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) systems and processes to track the short- and long-term human well-being and environmental impacts of conservation projects within The Nature Conservancy’s Micronesia and Polynesia Business Unit (BU). The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist reports to the Micronesia Conservation Director and is a team member of the Micronesia and Polynesia BU.
The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist develops and maintains replicable and scalable systems and processes for monitoring progress, evaluating socioeconomic and environmental impact, managing knowledge acquired throughout the implementation of the Program’s conservation strategies, and supporting strategy adaptation based on the monitoring, evaluation and learnings. They use a range of spatially explicit information, field surveys, and interviews in a holistic MEL system to collect and interpret qualitative and quantitative evidence on project strategies. They communicate information to project managers to inform decision-making. They create coherence between TNC’s organization-wide strategy and 2030 goals and regional project implementation and monitoring systems. They support the Micronesia Challenge 2030 Measures groups as a technical partner. They work closely with TNC Micronesia and Polynesia staff and local project partner organizations to further develop their MEL systems and train their staff, build partner capacity on MEL design and implementation, incorporate local knowledge, collect and analyze data, and lead periodic reporting to project partners. This role currently is funded for an 18-month tenure. The term may be extended subject to funding.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Master’s degree in science related field and 2 years of experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Experience leading and working with cross functional teams.
- Experience synthesizing, interpreting and communicating scientific information.
- Experience preparing reports of findings.
- Record of peer reviewed publications in scientific journals.
- Experience working and communicating with a wide range of people.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in a conservation-related social science field (such as environmental anthropology, environmental economics, environmental and conservation psychology, environmental sociology, environmental and conservation governance, conservation and development, political ecology, or ecological economics).
- Five years’ work experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning.
- Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research and analytical methods.
- Proficiency with statistical software packages, including R.
- Experience working with multiple cross-cultural stakeholders, including indigenous peoples and local communities.
- Willingness to undertake regular field visits and guide/supervise fieldwork and surveys.
- Excellent written, spoken and presentation communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Multi-lingual and multi-cultural experience appreciated.
- Communicating clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English (proficiency in at least one local language a plus)
- Experience with GIS appreciated.
- Willingness to travel internationally.

SALARY INFORMATION
The starting pay range for this position is generally within the range of $49,000 - $57,000 USD for annual base salary and is based on location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience.This range only applies to candidates whose regions of employment are Micronesia and Polynesia.
