Primary Duties: Conduct audio-visual protocol surveys for the state-endangered Marbled Murrelet. The position will be almost entirely field based. The field work conditions are often strenuous and can require traversing steep forested terrain in all weather conditions. The position will require camping in remote forested areas and conducting surveys in the early morning. The technician will record data on an audio-recording device and then transcribe those findings onto a paper data sheet. The technician will be responsible for surveying several different stands of timber in different locations in western Washington. The position is based out of Tumwater, WA but multiple-day, overnight travel weeks will be required. A company vehicle will be provided as well as dinner costs. The applicant will be asked to provide their own personal field gear and camping gear.
Other Duties: Technicians may be asked to assist with other ongoing field projects currently underway including stream habitat surveys, forest stand inventory, songbird surveys, fish distribution surveys and other duties as assigned.
